The Department of Civil Engineering commenced offering UG programme B.Tech(Civil Engineering) in the academic year 2008 with an initial intake of 60 students, which was enhanced to 120 students in the academic year 2009. In the year 2011, the Institute became autonomous. The department is also offering one PG programme M.Tech(Structural Engineering) with an intake of 18 in the academic year 2014, which was further enhanced to 30 from the academic year 2017.
The department has well equipped laboratories with an emphasis on practical skills and fundamentals. The Department has experienced and well talented faculty which includes seven doctorates.
The Department has requisite number of faculty members, striving to incorporate excellence in theory, practice and research. Undergraduate studies in Civil Engineering at GRIET start with the innovative, integrated and well designed curriculum structure which gives students a solid foundation in core disciplines like mechanics, analysis, and design, together with essential areas of mathematics and physical sciences. Throughout the curriculum, design courses, laboratory courses, and project courses allow students to acquire a taste for the complex task of analyzing, planning designing, estimating the cost and execution of a structure.
The department is having advanced structural engineering lab which consists of LOADING FRAME. The department is having consultancy works related to Third Part Quality Control of GHMC works and Vauprada Consultants LLp. The department is having MOU’s with organizations M/s Continental Designers Project Consultants, Murthy&Manyam Architects, Engineers & Planners , Vasuprada consultants LLp, M/s Prof.V.S.Raju consultants and R.K.Engineers.
